How to Install Solid Hardwood Floor

Step one: Measure the Floor Area
Before installing the floor must level, and the hardwood acclimated to the room humidity and temperature following the manufacture guideline. Measure the total area of the room for square footage. When ordering hardwood flooring, allow a minimum of 10-12 percent extra for irregular woods or any cutting mistake.
Step two: Check for a Squeaky Floor
Make sure there are no squeaks from the floor. If there’s a squeak, twist a lengthy drywall screw into the subfloor and joist at which the squeak occurs. Remove shoe-molding from the room and also sweep and clean thoroughly.
Step three: Roll Out Barrier Paper
Roll out the barrier paper on the floor. Mark with a pencil along with the board where the joists are located,
Step four: Start Installation
After doing the previous steps, now the floor is ready to install solid hardwood.
- For the first row, it needs the tongue side facing the center of the room.
- On the second row, lock the tongue and groove, tap them together with a mallet, and block a tight fit between the boards.
- Blind nail the second row through the tongue and repeat the process until it can use flooring nailer.
- On the last row, cut the pieces to fit, measuring the distance from the wall to the boar, and reduce the expansion gap.
- Install the transition pieces in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and remove spacers.
